BRIEF HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

Bhawanipur Gujarati Shishya Prathisthan (BGSP) an Alumni association of schools run by The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society was established in 1984. Mr. Amar Seth, batch of 1966 and current president of the association was the Initiator to form the alumni association, his vision of creating the association was supported by other founder members, viz.Mr. Pradip Sheth (currently Principal Advisor to BGSP), Late Mr. Harshad Nayak (First President of Association), Late Mrs.  Sarla Gorasia, Late Mr.Ushakant Parekh(Immediate Past President), Late Mr. Rashmi Kant Sheth and Late Mr. Harshad Jasani.

The name to the association was bestowed by Former Headmaster of school, Late Dr. Nalin Patel. Adorably known as 'Guruji'.

Founder members identified the plight of few school students, who were attending school in unkept uniform, they didn't had complete set of uniform, as because their family could not support the basic minimum cost of education. Good number of students were first generation learners. Founder members thought that it is the need of hour to do a constructive work for these students. Thus was born the sole objective of BGSP from inception which is in practice till date, is to support the financially weak Guajarati students of our school by distributing free Text Books, Exercise Books and Two pairs of uniform and shoes. These objective empowers the needy students to study in equality and dignity with others.

In 2002-2003 BGSP celebrated Platinum Jubilee of Our School with support and guidance of The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society. Alumni all across the globe had participated in the functions. Former Principals, Teachers were honoured. Our beloved Guruji Late Dr. Nalin Patel was presented with lifetime achievement award from BGSP. Distinguish Alumni Awards (DAA) were introduced, the awardees received their awards from then governor of West Bengal H.E. Late Mr. Viren Shah.

BGSP completed its 25th Year in 2009, which was celebrated at Bhawanipur Education Society campus and Royal Calcutta Golf Club ground with lots of energy, funfair by the then students of the school as well as ex-students.
